  As it was so bloody cold on the train, both of us now have a pretty nasty cold, we had to cancel our dinner plans, as well as the poor family sitting next to us who were celebrating a birthday.

  Our family went on the Southern Encounter on the weekend & we had a fantastic time. The train ride, the scenery, the kangaroos, the people trackside to see the train pass & Victor Harbor all made for a very enjoyable day. The staff were fantastic, especially with the grandchildren. The government should be looking at helping organisations like this - like helping to restore & maintain Loco's. Congratulations to all the staff who make this possible.

  Really not impressed with the service provided on the trip, i know that sometimes things go wrong, but contingency plans should have been in place for situations like that. The certainly make NSW Heritage operators look a lot better in a number of aspects. I won't be coming back to a Steamranger trip anytime soon!!!

  So after yesterday's debacle on the Steamranger trip, we got back to Mt Barker 2.5 hours late. No hot food on their trains, clearly no communication between the crew members and less communication between the staff and customers. And the people working in the buffet car were unbelievably rude!

  Great. No downsides. Great volunteers that are kind and can explain our questions. 5/5 favourite company. My favourite locomotive is the 620 class 621 duke of Edinburgh, i love everything about it. If you love railways or love to look at the countryside, beach and many more things, I strongly recommend the Steamranger heritage railway.

  We were told that a diesel was available to get us back to Mt Barker earlier but they didn't use it, even though the steam locomotive was clearly going to struggle up the hill with a full load, and we traveled at a crawling pace as the loco slipped dozens of times coming back up the hill.
